Bellydance is an ancient art form specifically geared toward the female body - emphasizing movement, beauty, and sensuality. It is a dance that promotes fitness, muscle strength and tone, and flexibility. A wonderful aspect of this dance form is that, unlike many other popular forms of dance, this is truly for EVERY woman...no matter their size, shape, or age. From the snaky undulation to the ecstatic shimmy, bellydance was made for the female body.

About the Class: Beginner Bellydance will focus on the very basics of bellydance technique. Learn to shimmy, undulate, and isolate muscle groups. We will work on learning a fun choreography to perform for friends and family. Bellydance is a great way to gain muscle strength, flexibility, and self-confidence!

About the Instructor: Phoenix Avathar has been bellydancing for about 10 years and has been teaching the art form for approximately 7 years. Having studied under a variety of talented New England dancers as well as attending intensive training sessions with several well-known dancers, Phoenix has extensive experience in a variety of bellydance styles. Currently, she is the artistic director of dance troupe: Moriquendi, and also teaches Improvisational Tribal Style Bellydance in Salem, MA.
