Why do I get migranes in the Fall?
The cause of a migraine headache is an electrical, biochemical event in the brain. Swelling of the blood vessels occurs on the surface of the brain, causing inflammation. Muscular tension is the most common source of pain for a tension type headache. Massage to the head and neck region can release muscle tension and help alleviate the headache.
To help prevent seasonal headaches, keep life consistent. Be sure to get 7-8 hrs of sleep, eat every 4-5 hrs, drink plenty of water and moderating alcohol and caffeine consumption. Regular massage, especially to tension prone areas, can lesson environmental impacts.
For regular migraine suffers increasing intake of B2 and magnesium supplements (400 mg daily) has been shown beneficial. Good food sources of B2 include nuts, green leafy vegetables, fish legumes and whole grains. Food sources of magnesium include nuts, soybeans, spinach, brown rice, lentils, avocado, beans, and banana, to name a few.
Always check with your doctor before adding supplements to your diet or if the headache lasts more than 24 hours. For more information and research studies visit:

Massage and Polarity Special
Polarity therapy is a form of bodywork based on the human energy field. Energy fields exist everywhere in nature, and polarity therapy believes that the flow and balance of energy in the human body is the foundation of good health. When energy is unbalanced or blocked due to stress or other factors, pain and disease may arise. Practitioners of polarity therapy seek to balance and restore the flow of energy which is believed to enter the body through the chakras. Polarity therapy incorporates energy bodywork with gentle or firm touch and rocking, which are used to clear any blockages and result in a release of holding patterns in the body, mind, and soul. This release should bring the client a sense of deep relaxation, relief from specific symptoms, clarity, or new insight.
Karen is available weekdays after 4pm and Saturdays. Even if you have had massage before you should try this truly re-energizing treatment. Call for an appointment today! 978-825-0040
Hurry this special offer ends 9/15/09.

Massage therapy now an accepted healing technique
........"Massage has moved out of sleazy backrooms to become an accepted healing technique with therapeutic and rejuvenating benefits. According to the American Massage Therapy Association, almost one-quarter of adult Americans had a massage at least once in the last 12 months, and employment for massage therapists is expected to increase 20 percent by 2016. And with the anxiety of widespread unemployment, housing foreclosures, and rising prices, massage can help manage stress."

Bellydance is an ancient art form specifically geared toward the female body - emphasizing movement, beauty, and sensuality. It is a dance that promotes fitness, muscle strength and tone, and flexibility. A wonderful aspect of this dance form is that, unlike many other popular forms of dance, this is truly for EVERY woman...no matter their size, shape, or age. From the snaky undulation to the ecstatic shimmy, bellydance was made for the female body.
About the Class: Beginner Bellydance will focus on the very basics of bellydance technique. Learn to shimmy, undulate, and isolate muscle groups. We will work on learning a fun choreography to perform for friends and family. Bellydance is a great way to gain muscle strength, flexibility, and self-confidence!

(http://www.ladieswholaunch.com/magazine/daily-launchtip-march-16-2009/2902) In Napoleon Hill’s book Think and Grow Rich, he discusses the importance of “A mind closed tightly against all the negative and discouraging influences, including negative suggestions of relatives, friends and acquaintances” as an indispensable habit of persistence that all successful people cultivate. In light of our changed economy and the potential for surrounding ourselves with “doom and gloom”, I thought it an appropriate reminder that we must safeguard ourselves against a damaging mindset. What’s more, our chances increase when there is a collective of positive vibration attracting opportunities. As individuals we can do our part by staying out of toxic environments, which could be as simple as turning off the news or not engaging in conversations filled with complaining and negative language. On a deep level, if you value your contribution to the world, your business and your ideas, others will value them too and your success will emerge regardless of what’s happening around you. But first, you must get control of your mind and either stay away from the people and things that push your buttons OR resign to shift your energy to the positive no matter how tempting the negative may be.
